DMCASF Community Relations Manager

The Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation (DMCASF) funds the position of Community Relations Manager. This role involves overseeing the adoption and promotion processes at the shelter, managing the volunteer program, and providing administrative support. Additionally, the Community Relations Manager actively participates in events at the shelter and throughout the community, including DMCASF-sponsored activities. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building and maintenance skills.


Veterinarian

We are a Progressive Open Admission Animal Control Shelter in Macon County that employs a Veterinarian on site. Applicants must have a DVM license, pass a physical examination, and pass oral interviews. The Ideal Shelter Veterinarian should have the ability to Communicate well with others, a Compassion for Shelter pets and a Desire to Support the well-being of our Homeless pets in our community. We Encourage both Experienced and New Graduates to apply.

Animal Control Wardens

We currently employ 5 Animal Control Wardens. Animal Control Wardens investigate cases of animal abuse or violations of the Animal Control Act & Humane Care of Animals Act, investigate citizen complaints regarding animals, and enforce City of Decatur/Macon County ordinances. Applicants must be 18 years of age, possess a valid Illinois Driver's License, have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, be able to lift heavy objects/animals, handle aggressive animals, pass physical examination, pass oral interviews and must be able to work any shift.

Rabies Secretary

We employ a Rabies Secretary to assist in all aspects regarding prospective adopters for all adoptable animals in Macon County. They are also responsible for maintaining various animal control records. Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, pass physical examinations, and pass oral interviews.

Kennel Workers

We currently employ Full time and Part time Kennel Workers. These workers maintain the cleanliness of the shelter and work hands on with the animals. Applicants must possess a valid Illinois Driver's license, be able to lift heavy objects/animals, pass physical examination, and pass oral interviews. Kennel workers are also required to work with aggressive animals at times.
