Today, the Sheriff's Office has six divisions for career opportunities and service to the citizens of Macon County: Deputy Sheriff, Corrections, Court Security, Clerical Records, Animal Control and Emergency Management Agency. With over 150 employees, we maintain higher standards of service to our citizens.
Deputy Sheriff

Not accepting applications for Deputy Sheriff at this time.

We currently have 50 Deputy Sheriffs to serve and protect the citizens of Macon County. Applicants must meet standards set forth by Macon County Merit Commission rules.  All applicants must pass written exam, physical agility test, background and oral interviews.
Corrections Officer

We currently employ 80 Corrections Officers at our 425-bed adult facility. Corrections Officers process inmates through the judicial system and ensure their health and safety during lock-up. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and pass an eight week certification course.

Court Security Officer

Not accepting applications for Court Security at this time.

We employ Court Security Officers to provide and maintain safety for the employees and visitors of the Macon County Courthouse Facility. The officers also act as Sheriff's Representatives during criminal and civil trials, offering assistance to judges, counselors, and jurors.  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and pass oral interviews.

Records Clerk

We employ Records Clerks to receive and edit incoming arrest, offense and crash reports while producing accurate records for the Macon County Sheriff's Office. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and pass oral interviews.
