The Macon County Animal Control and Care Center is a municipal facility under direct supervision of the Macon County Sheriff's Office.
The facility has operated under no kill guidelines for the last four years meaning only animals that are deemed sick, wild or aggressive are euthanized. Not only is the center committed to finding adoptable animals homes, they are also committed to the enforcement and prosecution of animal abuse.

Adopting a friend
If you are interested in any of our pets, please feel free to call or visit our facility. We do have an application process to assure that our pets receive the best home possible. Once you have filled out an application there is an approximate 48 hour wait while we check your vet reference and landlord reference if applicable.

All pets will be spayed/neutered before leaving MCAC custody. Macon County Animal Control has a veterinarian on staff.  Animals needing to be spayed or neutered prior to going to their adoptive homes can generally be picked up at our facility within two business days. A contract will be signed and all fees paid prior to the pet going to be spayed or neutered. We accept payment in the form of cash or check, however for out of county it is cash only.

FEES: Dogs: Under 50 pounds- $94.50. Over 50 pounds $144.50. Includes- spay/neuter, heartworm check, DHLPP (parvo, distemper, corona) vaccination, rabies vaccination, de worming and AVID microchip. Cats: $94.50. Includes- spay/neuter, FVCRP vaccination, Feline leukemia test (only negative cats are adoptable), rabies vaccination de worming, and AVID microchip.

We reserve the right to deny any person for any reason. Our pets welfare is our primary concern. If you live out of town, feel free to e-mail us and someone will contact you.

In the month of December we have a fostering program called "Home for the Holidays".  Please contact our Adoption Coordinator for more information.
